Shiatsu

Shiatsu originates from traditional Chinese health teachings, which were brought to Japan and adapted to the culture.
In English, Shiatsu translates to "finger pressure," which is applied mindfully during a treatment using fingertips, palms, elbows, knees, or feet. The intensity of the pressure is tailored to the needs of the clients.

Pressure is applied using gravity, by shifting the body weight from the center of the body, known as the Hara, of the practitioner.

Shiatsu is practiced on the floor on a mat (futon) and incorporates a variety of other revitalizing techniques such as stretches, rotations, and gentle rocking.

The greatest potential of Shiatsu lies in prevention, activating the body's self-healing abilities, and enhancing physical well-being.

As a preventive therapy, Shiatsu focuses on harmony and balance within the body, facilitating deep relaxation or invigorating activation.

Shiatsu can be helpful with the following

Discomfort disorders

such as fatigue, exhaustion, sleep problems, headaches, migraines, depressive moods, sensitivity to weather changes, or issues related to the musculoskeletal system.

Immune system strengthening

With regular application, the body learns to work in harmony again, becoming more resilient to the environment.

Transition phases

During transitional phases, both physical and emotional, it’s essential to have quiet moments where you can reconnect with yourself. You can find these in Shiatsu.

Body awareness

Shiatsu sessions provide you with the space and time to better perceive your body and its signals.

Cycle regulation

By harmonizing your energies, your bodily cycles can normalize, and potential symptoms can be alleviated. One example is the menstruation cycle.

Menopause

The menopause is a transition for the body that can be managed more easily with regular treatments.

Pregnancy & Birth Preparation

Through the mindful space, you can better connect with yourself and your needs.

Recovery

In consultation with the treating physician, Shiatsu can also support healing and restoration after accidents, illnesses, or musculoskeletal issues (with certified Shiatsu therapists).
